School was being a hassle. Sure Audrey Sophia Sloan had always been at the top of her class. Nothing was too much or too hard. But over the last couple weeks that was no longer true. In a matter of two weeks, she went from being in the top ten of the state to being amongst the weakest students. And she could care less.
She got home, went straight to her room and didn't bother to come out until the next morning. And that was only because her father would force her to wake up and go to school. If she didn't have to go to school, if it wasn't illegal to stay home for no reason, she'd never leave her room. She's stay there long enough for her body to get bored and give out.
On this particular morning, Mark glanced over at his once perfect daughter in the car while he was taking her to school. Something was different about her, something was obviously different about her but he couldn't see what it was. "Are you okay?" he finally brought himself to ask,
Audrey nodded her dismissively. "I'm fine." she answered with the world's fake-est smile while he pulled over. She immediately opened the door and got out before he could ask anymore questions.
Mark watched her walk into the building skeptically. He shrugged off the thoughts and continued his commute the work, doing his best to remember to ask Addison if she noticed anything different.

It had been a busy morning at work for Addison, and the clock hadn't even struck 9am yet. She stretched out her back and tried to focus on the charts that she herself happened to be updating at the time, since her interns were complete failures.
"Hey." A voice said behind her, causing her to look up. She was on a 48 hour shift, and her husband who wasn't on the same shift as her, and actually got to go home and sleep at night, came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her on her cheek.
"Your rather affectionate so early in the morning." She said with a hint of playfulness in her tone.
"Who did you piss off?"
"excuse me?"
"Your doing charts. That's bitch work. Wheres your interns." He asked her, forgetting for the moment that he was suppose to be asking about their daughter, and floored by the fact that his wife, who to the best of his knowledge hadn't done charts since she was a resident was updating charts.
"Oh um their complete failures and it's easier and quicker to just do it myself and get it right the first time than to have them do it, fuck it up, have to yell at them, make them do it again. It's just not worth the hassle during a 48 hour shift." She looked down at the charts and closed the one she was currently working on. Stood up, and looked at Mark.
"What are you doing? Do you want to go for a walk before surgery?" Addison asked him, needing to get out and get some fresh air.
"How's Audry? Did you get her to school ok? And ON TIME?" She asked him knowing that he had a weak spot for stopping by starbucks when Audry would give him puppy dog eyes, no matter how late they were running.

"She may have been a few minutes late but the point is she got there, right?" he answered playfully. "Imagine if we had another one that went to a different school...then they'd both be so late there would be no point in taking them. And I would love to go for a walk. Unlike you, I can bitch and scream at my interns all I want and they still have to do everything and anything I tell them to. So right now, I'm going to go find them, tell them to do my charts and pre-op and we're gonna get get coffee and relax."
Addison gave a soft chuckle while she began to work on the final chart. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you." she answered. "I'll be here when you're done."
Mark grabbed the pen from her hand followed by the chart she was working on. "Or you could come with me and I can make my interns do this too. Just tell me where the patient is and they can go update every last page of this chart." he offered, "You'll be amazing how gratifying have slaves can be."
"It's one page, Mark." she answered. "Just go take care of what you need to and we'll leave. It's not a big deal, it'll take me two minutes. It'll take your intern an hour."
"You know what your problem is? You're too nice to slaves. We've got to work on that. We're married, we gotta present a united front. We both gotta be bitches or we both gotta be nice...and I am NOT being nice."

Addison laughed and watched as Mark walked away to abuse his interns. She didn't abuse her interns, she wasn't nice all the time, but she didn't abuse them . Well accept for alex Karev, she abused him, and she really enjoyed abusing him.
30 minutes later all of her charts were finished and she and her husband were walking hand and hand out of the hospital, around the corner and to the local starbucks. There was a coffee cart on the first floor of the hospital, but Addison made it a point to never go there. Starbucks was always the lesser of the two evils.
Addison sat down in one of the chairs, and gave Mark a mocking look.
"You want me to be more horrible right? Go get me a Thi Vanilla Latte NOW! " She said in a bossy tone, but still playful all the same. Mark smiled at her.
"Now if you could only do that to the rodents that work under you."
"MARK!" Addison said! "Unlike you i don't abuse my interns." She said
"I enjoy abusing my interns." He said shrugging and getting their coffee he sits down at the table with her.
"Addie we need to talk." he said and she drew in a deep breath. Those three words were never followed by anything good.

"Those three words are never followed by anything good." Addison remarked slowly. "You're leaving me aren't you? You want a divorce, that's why you brought me to all the way here, so no one at the hospital would hear it."
"No!" he exclaimed before she could go on rambling nervously. "I'm not leaving you, I don't want a divorce. I just think our kid is insane and I wanted to ask you if I'm alone in thinking she's insane or if you've noticed it too."
"I haven't seen her in like a week, Mark. And when I did see her before that, she refused to look me in the eyes or say more than three words without running off to her room."
"And you don't think that's weird? Because that's not normal. Most kids say more than three words and most kids can generally hold eye contact....I mean if they're past the age of one they should be able to. Something is wrong with that kid. You're her mother aren't you suppose to have some telepathic connection to know what she's thinking before she thinks it?"
"No. You spend more time with her than I do, how would I know what she's going through."
"Well she's going through something." Mark insisted. "And it's really annoying so she needs to stop it and you need to make her stop it."

"What is the matter with you?!" Addison asked, she was holding her daughter by the upper arms, so she couldn't run away, and trying as hard as she could to be loving and patient, which really was not working in her favor.
"Nothing let me go." Audry cried, trying to run back up to her room.
"Wow you managed to say four words. I got a call from your principal today, your failing all of your classes Audry. I need to know what's going on with you so that I can help you fix it!" She tried to reason. "How do you expect to get into college when your flunking out of highschool?"
Audry looked up at her mother, tears in her eyes. Addison wasn't holding her hard enough to hurt her , but Audry pulling away was causing Addison a great deal of effort to keep her in one place.
"Audry Sophia, sit down right now and tell me what's going on." She said, her voice gentler this time. She was tired , she had just gotten off of a 48 hour shift only to get a phone call from the principal expressing his concern for his star pupil .
"If you aren't going to say anything than you will sit here and be silent. You are no longer allowed to go into your room accept for the time when you are sleeping at night. Do you understand me?" Addison asked loosing her patience. Audry gave her if looks could kill looks and flopped down, her arms folded over her chest in protest.
"Really Audry, you haven't acted like that since you were two years old, can we atlas bring your behavior back to this decade?" Addison asked as she stood in the kitchen chopping up chicken and vegetables for dinner.

Audrey didn't bother to answered, she kept her arms crossed and kept the scolding look on her face.
"Don't do that." Addison warned. "I invented that look."
Audrey rolled her eyes and got up, filled to her very limit with annoyance and agitation. "You invented everything! You know everything about babies because you're apparently god in that field, you know everything about kids because turns out, that's the next field of your expertise. And you know everything about teenagers because you invented everything that teenagers do."
"I think she just topped her record of four words." Mark mumbled seconds after entering the kitchen to find himself something that contained alcohol.

"Yes well she is grounded from her room, she can only go in her room to sleep at night, and will be sitting on the couch until she can decide she wants to grow up and act like the 13 year old girl that she is instead of the 2 year old she's reverted to."
"Do you reallly think that will help?"
"It won't hurt." Addison reasoned.
"STOP TALKING ABOUT ME LIKE I'M NOT HERE! I'M HERE ! I'M RIGHT INFRONT OF YOU! CAN YOU NOT SEE ME?! CAN'T YOU HEAR ME?!" Audry screamed at the top of her lungs at her parents.
"Obviously she's decided she wan'ts to grace us whith her presence." Mark said ignoring the fact that his daughter was screaming.
"Stop screaming , obviously we can hear you, we just thought that someone who acts like a two year old should be acknowledged as one." Addison explained.
Audry got up and walked into the kitchen, pushing her mother aside and grabbing the knife that she had just used to cut up the chicken with and slicing her wrists with the raw chicken covered knife, before ither of her parents knew what had happened, and too fast to be able to stop it.
