10 years of marriage and two children later everything was finally began to settle down and fall into place. Their careers had taken off almost over night and with that everything else changed. Their lives become almost royal, living in the lap of luxery and not settling for anything lacking excellence. That applied to houses, cars, clothing and anything else require. The one thing it effected was their devotion as parents. That was the one thing that became harder. That and their marriage.
Mark dropped his tray on the cafeteria table and sat down next to his wife, Addison who was lost in the magazine she was reading. Niether one bothered to speak a word, they sat there as if they were strangers in a akward silence. There was a time that people would have to shut them up during their lunch break because they would not stop talking for more than a split second, now that was just a distant memory.
After taking the last bite into his sandwich, Mark broke the silence forcing Addison to put down her magazine and pay attention to him. "Hey..." he started. "Things have been kinda weird these past months and I'm tired of it. I don't wanna stay like this, I wanna be like we were. Did I do something? Is something going on? Because we don't talk...ever. It's like a marriage soley based on sex and medicine. And at a time I wouldn't complain but...I want more. We have a family, Addison. I don't want our kids to grow up with the type of parents that we had, they type of parents we're becoming." he confessed.
That little speech was more than enough to get her attention. It was simple but it was exactly how she felt and it told her that he had the same concerns. It proved that no matter how distant they had more in common than they knew. It was why their marriage hadn't crumbled.
